State Football League-2017: J&K Bank Academy beats Rahim Green Solina by 5-0

Srinagar: In the ongoing State Football League-2017, two matches were played at Synthetic Turf TRC on Thursday, in which J&K Bank Academy and Iqbal Sports emerged winners.

In the Premier-Division match, Iqbal Sports defeated State Football Academy (SFA) by a solitary goal.  Right from the start of the match, Iqbal Sports team played aggressive football and attacked the goal posts of opposite team frequently. In 7th minute of the play, Rayees breached the defence lines of SFA and ensured Iqbal Sports takes an early lead in the match.

After conceding the lead the SFA players made several attempts in the first half to score an equaliser, but the defence lines of Iqbal Sports thwarted their attempts. The first half ended with Iqbal Sports leading 1-0. As the second half began, both the teams initially played defensive football and only in the last 20 minutes of the match, there was some urgency shown by the SFA to score an equaliser. However, they missed several opportunities to score and when the referee blew the final whistle, the score line read 1-0 in favour of Iqbal Sports. Rayees was declared man of the match for his performance.

In the Super Division match of the day, J&K Bank Academy thrashed Rahim Green Solina team by five goals to nil in a one sided encounter. Bank team dominated the match right from the start of the play and the helpless defenders of Solina team couldn’t match them. Sahil Bashir opened the account for the Bank in just 5th minute of the match and just five minutes later doubled the lead. Yasir Rafiq made it 3-0 for the Bank Academy in 13th minute of the match while Sajid scored fourth goal in 29th minute.

The Solina players tried their best to score, but the defence lines of Bank team thwarted all their attempts. At the end of the first half, the score line read 4-0 in favour of the Bank. In second half also the Bank players were all over the ground and Sahil Banday scored the fifth goal ensuring a thumping victory for his team.
