JRL calls for shutdown today
Srinagar: Joint Resistance Leadership (JRL) on Friday called for a complete shutdown on Saturday against the rising incidents of brad chopping in Kashmir.
In a joint meeting of JRL, comprising of Syed Ali Geelani, Mirwaiz Umar Farooq and Muhammad Yasin Malik held at Hyderpora on Thursday evening, it was decided to call a shutdown and civil curfew on Saturday, (Oct 21).
Asking traders, transporters and people to suspend their routine activities, the JRL said that “as an oppressed nation, we are left with no other option except to take these tough and painful decision”.
The resistance leaders discussed various issues including incessant incidents of braid chopping and attempts to tamper with state subject laws.
The meeting while taking serious notice of continuous bloodshed, lawlessness and arbitrary measures inflicted on people by forces and the ruling regime, asked for a complete shutdown on Saturday against unending incidents of braid chopping.
Referring to Kupwara and Pahalgam incidents, the resistance leadership said that these incidents serve as eye-opener and added that assault on women is a ploy hatched by forces, saying that well-trained sleuths are involved in this devilish game.
“Assault on modesty and dignity of women is intolerable,” said resistance leadership and while lashing at authorities, said that their criminal silence and the incompetence of police is encouraging these unscrupulous elements.
Resistance leader condemned the assault on women and said that these attacks are now becoming more alarming and dangerous as even male members of families are being attacked by these criminals and added that if not halted immediately it will take an ugly turn and may consume more human lives.
“Police is very swift while arresting the wanted persons and even catch hold of innocent Kashmiris from Jammu and outside states,” resistance leaders said, saying that these braid choppers are carrying their devilish game under their nose. “However police is maintaining their criminal silence over such inhuman activities carried out by these criminals,” JRL said.
Reiterating their appeal, JRL asked people to handover these suspicious elements to trustworthy persons or local Masjid committees for onward action and said that they in no case should punish them.
