Hamid Aziz to run 110 kms on Sunday

Srinagar: Hamid Aziz, one of the top athletes from Kashmir, will run 110 kilometres on Sunday with an aim to set a one day run record for the state.

Aziz has recently participated in 59th Senior National Championship in July this year in Andra Pradesh.

Hamid has already covered 60 kilometres run on a single day with the Australian marathon runner Pat Farmer who concluded his Pan India great marathon in Srinagar on March 27, 2017.

Besides, he has won the state championship on December 9, 2013.

Earlier in his college, he won all the inter-college road races and retained the title till he studied is under gradation in 2013, 2014, and 2015.

The latest achievement to him has been the participation in the India Expedition Adventure Race which was held in Srinagar, Sonamarg and Leh.

His acumen for long runs has promoted him to set out for his personal best of running over 100 kilometres which he has scheduled for October 22, 2017.

Hotel Shahenshah Palace in Srinagar and Hotel Snowland in Sonamarg has already come out in support for the athlete who has sponsored this mega event.

The event will be flagged off at Hotel Shahenshah Palace Srinagar. Hamid will run towards Sonamarg and then Baltal to complete 110 kilometre run.

“I am hopeful of completing the run in 10 hours. It won’t be a difficult task for me. I have already run 60 km in 2015 and also this year with foreign teams at Leh. I want to record my personal best,” said Hamiz Aziz.

Aziz plans to run 400 km in spring 2018 and 1000 kilometres in 2019 to ultimately aim for Kashmir to Kanyakumari run in five years of time
