Srinagar: Exposing the merciless trait of our society, a man was beaten ruthlessly by people after he was allegedly labeled as a ‘braid chopper’ by the person who owed money to him.

“Jameel Ahmad Dar son of  Ghulam Mohammad Dar of Sarpara Rafiabad was working as a tractor driver  for Mohammad Sultan Lone son of Abdul Subhan Lone of Gundchobutra Kralgund,” a police spokesman said.

He said that Lone owed 50,000 Rupees to Jammel Ahmad as he was not paid his dues for the several months now.

“On Monday, Jameel Ahmad went to Mohammad Sultan Lone’s house to get his salary amount, but to his utter surprise, the owner firstly, on one or other pretext refused to pay him. But when Jameel insisted that he will not budge and that he wants his money at all costs, Lone raised an alarm and labeled him as braid chopper,” the police spokesman said.

“As soon as Lone created a scene in the village, villagers who assembled at his house without any confirmation beat him to pulp, injuring him seriously.
