Traders Federation protests against incidents of braid chopping

Sopore: Traders federation Sopore on Tuesday held a protest gathering against Drug addiction and the growing incidents of braid chopping across Valley.

The protest gathering was observed under the president of traders federation Haji Mohammad Ashraf Ganaie.

Witnesses said that various organisations, senior citizens and locals from Sopore town participated in the gathering organised at Traders federation office Sopore.

The protesters raised and highlighted the continuing braid chopping incidents across the Valley since last one month. They alleged that the government has failed to stop the growing incidents of braid chopping as more than 135 braid chopping incidents have been recorded so far.

On the occasion various speakers also shared their views on drug addiction and it negative effects on the society. The speakers who participated in this gathering observed that drug addiction among youngsters, especially school and college going children is on the rise in Kashmir valley and needs to be tackled firmly. 

Members of civil society, NGO Dawn, BMO Sopore Dr Samiullah, members of Anjuman Moinul Islam, Sopore and local people of town participated in the gathering.
