Seven civilians injured in firing on LoC in Poonch

Srinagar: At least seven civilians were injured after the armies of India and Pakistan exchanged heavy fire and shelling along the Line of Control (LoC) in Rajouri and Poonch districts of Jammu and Kashmir on Wednesday, soures said.

According to sources firing started early morning today in villages located close to the LoC in Balakote and Mendhar areas of Poonch and Manjakote area of Rajouri district.

They said that a local and three labourers were injured in Drati and Basooni villages of Balakote in Mendhar sub-division of Poonch.

The injured are being treated at Dhargaloon health centre and are out of danger, said a health official.

Three civilians also sustained injuries in two villages of Manjakote of Rajouri district.

Two cars parked on a roadside were also damaged in the shelling.
