Srinagar: A complete shutdown is being observed in protest against the government’s failure to nab the miscreants forcibly cutting off the braids of women in south Kashmir’s Pulwama district on Tuesday.

Sources said that youth pelted stones in the morning to force shutdown in the town.

Yesterday two incidents of braid chopping incidents were reported from Pulwama district, one from Dangerpora area of Pulwama town and other from Nikas village of the district.

Locals have alleged that government is fully involved in these incidents.

“When stone pelters and other criminals are nabbed in no time, why they haven’t arrested anyone in braid chopping incidents despite the fact that over 100 braid chopping incidents have been reported in valley” a local said.

Meanwhile all shops and business establishments are closed in the area while traffic too is off the roads.
