Braid Chopping: Committee formed in Shopian to maintain vigil, counsel victims
Srinagar: District Magistrate Shopian, Mohammad Aijaz today constituted a district-level committee which would maintain strict vigil and counsel braid chopping victims.
The committee formulated on the directions of the Government comprises Additional District Magistrate as its chairman, Additional Superintendent of Police, District Social Welfare officer and counseling psychologist/psychiatrist as its members.
It was said that already village level committees consisting of Village Level Workers, Patwari, Chowki Officer concerned, Numberdars and Chowkidars are already in place in the district.
Further, counseling psychologist/psychiatrist and counselors from Social Welfare Department are already doing their job of helping the victims to overcome the post-traumatic situation.
Further, in order to reach out to the families where such incidents have taken place an outreach squad comprising Tehsildar concerned, SHO concerned and TSWO have met the victims and their families.
