Srinagar: Paying tributes to the two slain militant who were killed in Hajin encounter, Hurriyat Conference (G) chairman, Syed Ali Geelani Thursday said that the youth are sacrificing their precious lives for a greater cause to serve their nation.

“We are duty bound to carry their mission to its logical conclusion,” he said.

According to the statement issued here, Geelani said that “since past three decades, our nation while nourishing freedom movement and demanding their right to self-determination, has presented huge sacrifices, however New Delhi with its military might, brutally killed thousands and is carrying assault on women’s modesty and dignity in state.”

Blaming India’s ‘haughty and stubborn’ approach for continuous bloodshed in state, Geelani said, “We are a peaceful nation. The frequent incidents of encounters resulting into the martyrdom of youth, is a matter of serious concern for us.”

“India has declared a war against innocent people, while as international community instead of taking any serious of note this, is acting as mute spectator,” he said.

Reiterating his stand, Geelani said that no sane person can ever like and favour loss of human lives, however in a state of its arrogance India, neither takes into consideration the interests of its people nor they have any sympathy with people of state. “This situation is painful both for people in India and Jammu and Kashmir,” Geelani said.

Geelani asked authorities to shun its stale thinking and urged to demonstrate mature and sensible approach for the resolution of conflict.

Meanwhile, on the directions of Geelani, senior Huriyat leader Bashir Ahmad Qureshi visited slain commander’s home in Hajan and extended condolences on behalf of Geelani.

While paying tributes to slain youth Nasrallah, Qureshi said that “we will continue our struggle and pursue their mission till its logical end.”

Meanwhile, Geelani condemned the authorities for shifting and continuous detention of Mohammad Shaban Khan (Sopor) Gh Mohammad Khan Sopori, Meraj-u-Din Naikoo, Yawar Muzafar Ahmad, Bashir Ahmad (Brath) Arshad Ahmad Teli, Gh Nabi Gujri, Molvi Bashir Ahmad and said that authorities time and again slap PSA on incarcerated leaders and activists.

Terming authorities’ approach as vengeance, Geelani said that they have surpassed all previous records and while lashing at coalition regime, said that with the active support of forces and police, they are enjoying power corridors.

Referring to the deceit played by these pro-Indian parties, Geelani said that inflicting atrocities, coercive measures, massacres, loot, plunder, detentions, raids and intimidations, couldn’t break our resolve, saying that people despite facing all these repressive measures are pursuing freedom movement with dedication and commitment.

Once the PSA is quashed, there is no constitutional, legal, moral and political justification to arrest same persona and slap Public Safety Act.

Lashing out at PDP, Geelani said that when in opposition, they were vocal to resent and corner their predecessors and while in power corridors are following their predecessors.

Urging immediate release of all detinues, Geelani said that Mohammad Shaban Khan and Ghulam Mohammad Khan Sopori, both are suffering from multiple ailments and defying court orders, authorities have slapped third PSA against the ailing leaders.
