Braid chopping an attempt to undermine dignity of women: CM
Srinagar: Chief Minister Mehbooba Mufti ion Thursday termed the ‘mysterious braid chopping incidents’ as an attempt to undermine the dignity of the women in the state. She said that her government will also find the motives behind such incidents.
“Braid chopping incidents are attempts to create mass hysteria and undermine the dignity of the women in the state,” she tweeted today.
“Government will ensure steps are taken to find the motives behind these attacks,” Mehbooba said.
The government had said that the investigation is going on to trace the culprits behind braid chopping incidents.
However, the alliance partner of the current coalition regime has termed such incidents as disorder, saying that nobody would be behind these acts.
The opposition parties have blamed agencies for these acts and blamed the administration for failing to nab the culprits so far.
Notably, the pro-freedom camp has termed these incidents as an attempt to divert the attention of Kashmiris from the freedom struggle.
They also called for shutdown and protests against these incidents and have appealed the locals to remain vigilant to prevent the braid chopping incidents.
The state Police as per the reports has said that 100 braid chopping incidents have taken place in the Valley while ruing the “lack of co-operation” from the members of public.
They have also announced a reward of Rs six lakhs for credible information about the braid choppers, while as a SIT has also been formulated by the police to probe these incidents.
