Srinagar: Police Wednesday foiled a protest rally by the activists of Youth National Conference (YNC), as the activists tried to stage a protest in Srinagar against government’s inept and sluggish response to increasing braid chopping incidents across the Valley.

The fear psychosis has engulfed the whole valley. Our mothers and sisters now fear to move out and have confined themselves within the four walls of their homes,” adding, “Nothing much has been done to assuage these fears while government has failed to put an end to such senseless violence against our women folk.”

The protesters expressed anguish over the way administration and police is tackling these incidents saying the government is in deep slumber and believes only in targeting the victims of such acts.

It is highly condemnable that police had to resort to such undemocratic means to stop just voice,” he said.

This dispensation has miserably failed on all fronts.”
