Two cops arrested for providing ammunition to militants in south Kashmir

Srinagar: Police in Shopian district claimed to have arrested two cops and an over-ground worker (OGW) who supplied ammunition to Hizb-ul-Mujahideen militants.

According to an official, a naka party of police apprehended Adil Ahmad Negroo near Circuit House Shopian in suspicious conditions and recovered twenty live rounds of AK-47 from his possession on October 9.

“On questioning, the said person revealed that he and his friend namely Mudasir Ahmad Mir of Okay Kulgam had received 40 rounds of AK-47 from one constable Shabir Ahmad Malik of Amshipora Shopian presently posted in District Ganderbal”.

“He (Adil) is a strong OGW of active militant Waseem Wagay @Saifullah and Ishfaq Thoker @Abrar of HM outfit,” he said.

The official said that constable Shabir Ahmad Malik was apprehended. “He further revealed that he had received the said 40 rounds from constable Nazir Ahmad Najar of Kulgam who is currently posted in Kot DPL Shopian,” he said.

A senior police official of the district said that both the policemen have been arrested and further investigation is on.
