Srinagar: As the braid chopping incident occurred in her own constituency in the wee hours today, the MLA Habba Kadal, Shameema Firdous Tuesday led a protest of National Conference’s  women’s wing here to protest against what she termed as the failure of administration in tracing the braid hoppers.

Amid anti-government sloganeering, scores of NC women’s wing protesters carried out a protest march from its Nawa-e-Subah headquarter here to Polo View.

Holding party flags in their hands, the NC leaders and activists said that the government has  failed to nab the braid choppers here, who have unleashed a reign of terror among the people especially the womenfolk.

Talking to reporters, Shameema Firdous said that the government has failed to ensure safety and security of womenfolk in Kashmir.

“The government has no right to rule the people when they fail to ensure their safety. The state government led by Chief Minister Mehbooba Mufti must resign,” she said, adding that it is unfortunate that the Home Minister, Mehbooba Mufti as being a woman has utterly failed to ensure the safety of woman’s dignity in Kashmir.

She also said that the womenfolk are feeling insecure even inside their homes. “Why the government has failed to ensure the security of a woman,” she questioned.

The NC MLA further said that the government is duty bound to ensure the safety of womenfolk and the administration to nab the culprits behind these incidents at the earliest so that the people here could a feel a sigh of relief.
