KPSS thanks Mehbooba, Naeem for taking their issue seriously
Srinagar: Kashmiri Pandit Sangarash Samiti (KPSS) on Wednesday thanked Chief Minister Mehbooba Mufti and Minister for Public Works Department Nayeem Akhtar for taking long pending issue related to the rehabilitation of Kashmiri Pandits living in Kashmir seriously.
According to the statement issued here, the KPSS president, Sanjay K. Tickoo said that Mehbooba and Naeem became instrumental in extension of PM’s Package for Job and Rehabilitation to the Kashmiri Pandits who stayed back in Kashmir Valley.
Earlier, KPSS had filed a petition in year 2013 bearing OWP no. 1986/2013 titled Kashmiri Pandit Sangarash Samiti and Ors Vs. Union of India and ors before the High Court wherein KPSS requested the Court to issue necessary directions to the Central and State Government to extend the PM’s Job and Rehabilitation package to the Kashmiri Pandits living in Kashmir Valley and to reserve 561 posts from the said package to the educated and un-employed Kashmiri Pandit youths living in Kashmir Valley.
“The Court accepted our petition and was pleased to pass a judgment on 31.05.2016 in which government was directed to take necessary steps in this regard,” the statement reads.
Latter on a Contempt Petition bearing no. 706/2016 stands filed by KPSS which is still pending adjudication before the High Court at Srinagar, wherein High Court asked the State Government to file status report on the issue. In compliance to the directions passed by the High Court, finally on 10.10.2017, the PM’s Job package stands extended to the Kashmiri Pandits living in Kashmir Valley.
Though the KPSS has pleaded the issue on Judicial as well as on administrative side, but the positive and constructive approach shown by the Hon’ble Chief Minister Mehbooba Mufti and Minister for Public Works Department Nayeem Akhtar is unparallel.
“KPSS once again want to express gratitude towards them and hope in future also, their support and guidance will remain with us,” he said.
KPSS is holding Special Meeting on Oct 15 (Sunday), in the premises of Ganesh Mandir, Ganpatyar, Habba Kadal, Srinagar as such all the members of the Non-Migrant Kashmiri Pandit Community is requested to attend the same to discuss necessary issues related rehabilitation issues of the community living in Kashmir Valley.
