Srinagar: Despite the passage of over one year, authorities in University of Kashmir are yet to complete the selection process for the post of Controller, Registrar and other nine top positions in the Varsity.

The process for the selection of new controller examination, Registrar, Director IT Department, Director DIQA, two posts of Assistant Directors DIQA, besides directors of Kupwwara and Anantnag campus have been put on hold.

According to official the administrative authorities in varsity have put the selection process on hold as the committee constituted to make all the new appointments have raised queries over the panel of candidates who have applied for these different posts.

“The selection committee had some months back refused to go ahead with the appointment of new controller examination as no candidate was seen worthy for the post,” a top official said.

The outgoing Vice Chancellor (VC), of the University had decided to make appointments for the top academic and administrative posts through an open selection process however, there is no headway on the proposal from the past one year.

Besides controller, the varsity authorities last year had also invited applications for the post of Director South Campus Anantnag, Director Information Technology and Support System (ITSS) and Director Internal Quality Assurance Cell (IQAC).

Also, the university authorities invited applications for the post of Director, to head the State Resource Centre for Adult Education (SRCAE) in the campus.

Notably, SRCAE, is functioning in the varsity from past many years to provide support to the literacy and adult education programmes being run in all districts of the state.

Given the delay in carrying out the selection process, the posts which were advertised are being managed as ‘additional charges’.

“The irony is that post of director south campus is managed by a junior official which has fumed the varsity professors. There are other irregularities for which the present VC has been put under scanner in Raj Bhavan,” a top official in KU said.

The official said Raj Bhavan has also taken serious notice of other appointments in various Departments of the varsity, made by the outgoing VC.

Interestingly, the three year term of present VC Prof. Khurshid Iqbal Andrabi will end on October 14, this year.

Despite repeated attempts, Prof. Khurshid Andrabi was not available for comments.
