Top Hizb Militant killed in ongoing Shopian gunfight
A top militant of Hizbul Mujahideen has been killed in an ongoing encounter at Kellar area of South Kashmir’s Shopian district on Monday.
A police officer said that a joint team of 43 RR, SOG and CRPF launched a cordon-and-search at village Gatipora in Kellar at around 4:00 pm.
Soon after the joint team of forces intensified the searches, the hiding militants opened fire triggering off an encounter, the officer said.
He said that so far a militant commander namely Zahid Mir has been gunned down.
When reports last came in the operation was going on.
