DGP bats for emergency ambulance service
Srinagar: Director General of Police, Dr. S.P Vaid Saturday highlighting the need of operating dial 108 Emergency Ambulance Service in the State. He said that saving even one life is great contribution to humanity.
Speaking on the inaugural function of the two day live demonstration on ENT surgeries programme titled Rhinoplasty and FESS at Police Hospital here, Dr. S.P Vaid who was the chief guest on the inaugural session said that the conferences like this are very inspiring and beneficial to the host hospital and to the attending delegates.
He said that the police department acts as an emergency department in many situations. Because of the nature of the duties and in normal course police men and officers do also face health issues. Keeping this in view we are making all efforts to provide better health care facilities to our men and women.
While complementing organizers for the holding conference, he said that there is no dearth of talent in the State and hopefully in near future doctors and experts not only from the country but also abroad will visit Kashmir and take part in such conferences and events. He said that under a centrally sponsored scheme dial 108 Emergency Ambulance Service have been started in whole of the country and at places the service has proved very beneficial. He said that if this scheme is launched in our state also we will be able to save a number of lives in road accidents, heart attacks and other accidents.
Director Health Services, Kashmir Dr. Saleem-U-Rehman while speaking on this occasion said that organizing such conferences is commendable as young doctors are exposed to the experienced doctors of the country. While appreciating the efforts of the Police hospital he said that the hospital should continue such endeavors in future as well. He said that emergency care has become very necessary and we need to evolve mechanisms so that precious lives in road traffic accidents and other emergency cases where very less time is available for survival of patients are saved.
In his welcome address Dr. Bilal Raja Medical Superintendent, Police Hospital, Srinagar said that the programme is the 3rd of its kind during the current year which provided platform to the doctors from the hospital, city and periphery to watch very experienced and qualified doctors from other parts of country conducting surgeries and interact them live during the operation.
He thanked Dr. Sanjeev Sachdeva, Director ENT MAX Hospital and Dr. Varinder Gatsas for attending the conference and sharing their valuable experiences. He thanked the Director General of Police for over all support and assured him that such academic exercises will continue in future as well.
Dr. (Prof.) Rouf Ahmad, HoD ENT, Govt. Medical College, Srinagar who is the Organizing Chairman of the event said that these events are very necessary in the imparting practical knowledge to the doctors and paramedics. He said that pooling of specialist doctors in the peripheries is very necessary which will help in providing medical services to the people from far of places near to their homes.
The inaugural session was attended by ADGP Housing, A.K Choudhary, Director Health Services, Kashmir, Dr. Saleem-U-Rehman, IGP Crime, Alok Puri, IGP Kashmir, Munir Ahmad Khan, IGP Railways, Mubarak Ahmad Ganie, IGP (Hqrs.) PHQ, Surinder Kumar Gupta, AIG (P&T), Sheikh Junaid Mehmood, AIG (Pers.) Mubassir Latifi, AIG (Comm.) Manoj Pandit, Commandants of Armed police, senior police officers and number of doctors and senior paramedics.
