Riyaz Naikoo responsible for cops killing: Police
Srinagar: Police has blamed Hizbul commander Riyaz Naikoo for the killing of a cop, Ashiq Hussain in South Kashmir’s Pulwama district.
Superintendent of Police Awantipora Mohammad Zahid Malik said that Naikoo and his associates were involved in the killing of Hussain in Padgampora village of the district. Hussain was attending a marriage function at Padgampora on Monday night and was headed for home when suspected militants targeted him by firing at him at close range.
The cop was shifted to a nearby hospital where he was declared as brought dead on arrival.
Pertinently, police had started investigations into the killing and so fra police has arrested 15 people and they are being interrogated, he said.
Huissain’s killing took place barely a week after gunmen shot dead an off-duty BSF soldier in Parrey Mohalla area of Hajin in Bandipora district of north Kashmir.
