Former Sarpanch shot dead in Mattan
Suspected militants on Tuesday shot dead a former Sarpanch in Mattan area of south Kashmir’s Anantnag district.
The 60-year-old former Sarpanch was identified as Ghulam Rasool Ganie.
Sources informed that Ganie was at his shop at Mattan Chowk when suspected militants attacked him.
“Ganie received bullet injury and was immediately rushed to Mattan hospital where doctors declared him brought dead,” sources said.
Meanwhile, the forces have launched manhunt to nab the suspected militants.
