All the three militants have been gunned down by the security forces during an encounter at a camp manned by the 182nd Battalion of the Border Security Force (BSF) located near Srinagar Airport and Air Force Station Gogoland on Tuesday morning.

A BSF personnel succumbed to his injuries post an encounter with militants. Three other BSF personnel were also injured in the encounter.

Meanwhile, Inspector General of Police, Kashmir, Muneer Khan said that the gunfight has ended with the killing of all three militants of Jaish-e-Muhammad.

Addressing a press conference in Humhama, Khan said that six to seven Jaish militants are still at large.

He said JeM is a threat as they believe in surprise fidayeen attacks. “We will have to deal with them separately,” said Khan, adding such attacks will continue to happen as long as Pakistan is our neighbour.

A group of militants today launched a suicide attack on a BSF camp near the Srinagar International Airport, killing an Assistant Sub-Inspector of the BSF and leaving four security personnel injured.

A police official said that a group of militants stormed the BSF camp located just outside the main gate of the high-security Srinagar International Airport at 4.00 am.

A policeman guarding the residence of a retired police officer nearby sustained superficial injuries due to a stray bullet, the official said.
