Chief Minister Mehbboba Mufti on Monday said that the government is trying its best to find the truth behind braid chopping cases in the state.

“We are trying our best to crack the case and bring those involved [in braid chopping] to book,” said Mehbooba while talking to reporters on the sidelines of a function at Dal lake in Srinagar.

She said a team of doctors is meeting the victims to help in the investigation.

Authorities have so far been clueless, even as the government has announced a reward of Rs six lakh on information leading to arrest of braid choppers.

Dozens of incidents have been reported from various parts of the Valley, since the past two weeks now.

The phenomenon which was confined to South Kashmir only has spread to North Kashmir and Srinagar City as few cases of braid chopping were witnessed here also.
