Foundation stone for Lalmarg-Mohanmarg Tourist Facilitation Centre laid

Member Legislative Assembly from Ganderbal constituency, Sheikh Ishfaq Jabbar Saturday laid the foundation stone of Rs 1.36 crore Lalmarg-Mohanmarg Tourist Facilitation Centre.

The Centre will provide accommodation for the tourists, as well as stable for horses which will be used for trekking purpose on the Lalmarg – Mohanmarg track. This Tourist Centre would be constructed by the locally available stones to preserve the architectural signature of the area.

On the occasion, the MLA hoped that by the completion of the project, the area will see a rise in tourist arrivals which would lead to increase in business activities.

Recalling the historical significance of the district, the MLA said that famous British archaeologist; Aurel Stein translated the Rajtarangni (a historical chronicle) from Sanskrit to English in Lalmarg– Mohanmarg meadow. 

The foundation of the Tourist Centre was a long pending demand of locals. The foundation of the Centre was hailed by the people as an important developmental step.
