Braid chopping: Internet speed reduced in south of Kashmir

Authorities on Saturday late evening decided to reduce mobile internet speed across South Kashmir to prevent circulation of braid chopping related videos.

Official sources told a local news gathering agency, that police have sent a communication to the cellular companies wherein it has directed them to reduce mobile internet (4G/3G) into 2G speed in Anantnag, Kulgam, Shopian and Pulwama districts of south Kashmir with immediate effect.

Pertinently, dozens of braid chopping incidents across Kashmir valley during past more than a week have triggered scare among the residents, especially women.

The police have formed Special Investigation Teams to probe the incidents. However, so far the police and the authorities have been clueless.

The police have also announced a reward of Rs 6 lakh for credible information leading to arrest of any person behind braid chopping incidents.

Help-lines have also been established across the Valley to help in nabbing the culprits.
