Shopping complex, forest building gutted in a fire incident (Photo)

Several shops suffered major damage in a fire incident early Thursday morning at Duderhama Ganderbal, police said.

Reports said that fire emanated from a garment shop in a shopping complex and within no time engulfed the adjacent shops resulting in complete damage to several shops.

The shopping complex also houses the offices of Jammu and Kashmir Bank and Ellaquai Dehati Bank.

A police official said that fire besides damaging several shops in the shopping complex also damaged the rooftop of Jammu and Kashmir Bank.

 He said that the timely intervention of fire tenders with the help of locals brought the fire under control and prevented it from spreading to other business establishments.

Police is investigating the incident and the cause of the fire is being ascertained, the official added.

Meanwhile, an under construction Forest building was severely gutted in a fire incident during wee hours on Thursday.

An official said that the under construction Civil Range Office of Sindh Forest Division Ganderbal was gutted mysteriously in a fire incident.

He said that the building is constructed at an estimated cost of twenty lakh rupees and was in completion stage.

Police has registered a case under FIR no. 195/2017 in this regard and have taken up the investigation in this regard.
