Sopore shuts on 2nd day to mourn Najar’s killing

A complete shutdown was witnessed in Sopore area of north Kashmir Baramulla district on second consecutive day to mourn the killings of top militant commander Qayoom Najar in Uri sector near Line of Control on last Tuesday.

All business establishments & shops remained closed while traffic is very thin.

Meanwhile paramilitary and armed forces have been deployed at many parts of town including Main chowk, tehsil road, Shah Dargah chowk, Ashpeer crossing and Chankhan chowk to maintain law and order incidents.

Authorities have ordered the suspension of  class work in all educational institutes from primary schools to Degree colleges in Sopore on Thursday, following Najar’s killing.

Officials said the decision has been taken to avoid law-and-order incidents in the aftermath of militant killing.

Pertnently,  situation in Sopore town and outskirts remained peaceful on Wednesday with strict restrictions in place from authorities under police station Sopore and police station Tarzoo.
