LMD penalizes restaurant for overcharging

Prompted by a complaint received from the CM’s Grievance Cell against a local restaurant for overcharging on mineral water bottles, the Legal Metrology Department (LMD) today issued a show cause notice to the management of the restaurant.

The restaurant was found to be charging Rs. 30 per water bottle having MRP of Rs. 20 and was fined a penal sum of Rs. 4000. An undertaking that such an offence will not be repeated in future was taken from the restaurant.

Meanwhile, the Department conducted market checking various Srinagar rea, including Zadibal, Dunipora, Khusalsar, Gojawara, Kathi Darwaza, Saida Kadal, Shalimar and Theed, and booked eight erring traders for violating Legal Metrology laws, collecting an amount of Rs. 3800 on them.
