Trade body calls for Shutdown on Monday

After National Investigation Agency (NIA) summoned Kashmir Traders and Manufacturing Federation (KTMF) president Muhammmad Yasin Khan to its New Delhi headquarters, the federation has called for Kashmir Band (complete Strike) on 25 September (Monday) against the move.

In a statement issued here yesterday, KTMF said that the NIA action against Khan as ‘an attack against the Valley traders.’

 The trade bodies asked people to observe a complete strike to register their protest against the summoning of Khan to NIA headquarter in New Delhi.

Meanwhile, the NIA has once again summoned Syed Naseem Geelani to its headquarters in New Delhi for questioning, sources said.

 “He has been called again on 25th of September, 2017 to NIA headquarters, New Delhi,” a statement of the members of Faculty of Forestry, Sher-e-Kashmir university of Agricultural Sciences and Technology of Kashmir said on Friday.

Naseem, the son of octogenarian pro-freedom leader Syed Ali Geelani was first summoned and questioned by NIA from 8th of August to 11th of August, 2017. His second round of questioning was done from 24th of August to 30th of August this year.

NIA is investigating an alleged funding case registered on May 30 this year.

Meanwhile, widening its probe the NIA has summoned a Kashmir University scholar to New Delhi headquarters in alleged funding case.

According to the reports, Aala Fazli, summoned by the federal investigation agency is a PhD scholar with the Department of Pharmaceutical Sciences.

Confirming the summons, Head of the Department (HoD) Pharmacy Prof Zulfiqar Ali told Kashmir Observer that the scholar has sought leave from department in order to appear before NIA in Delhi.

Fazli is said to be the office bearer of the Kashmir University Student’s Association (KUSA).

The investigation agency has so far arrested seven pro-freedom leaders, a businessman and two youth including a photojournalist regarding the investigation.

NIA is investigating an alleged funding case registered on May 30 this year.
