Four civilians injured as India, Pak trade fire on JK border

At least four civilians were injured as the armies of India and Pakistan traded heavy fire and shelling along the border in Jammu and Kashmir on Friday.

According to a police official, Pakistan opened fire in Arnia, RS Pura and Ramgarh areas of Jammu.

He said Indian army effectively responded to the firing.

The official said that four civilians were injured in the firing.

“Six livestock were killed, 34 injured in the shelling,” he said, adding that two houses were damaged as well.

727 civilians were evacuated from the residential areas in the wake of shelling, he said.

Yesterday, an army soldier was killed and three others were injured in a ‘sniper fire’ by Pakistan Rangers at Keran sector along the Line of Control in north Kashmir’s Kupwara district, police sources said.
