Anganwari worker attempts self-immolation in Srinagar

An anganwari worker attempted self-immolation during a protest in Srinagar on Tuesday.

According to the witnesses,  a woman protester tried to set herself ablaze. However, timely intervention of the fellow protesters saved her.

The protesting anganwari workers are demanding increase in their wages.

The protesters are sitting on a dharna at Press Enclave since yesterday.

Yesterday, several workers were detained during the protest.

 “We demand enhancement of salary to Rs 10,000 per month for Anganwadi workers and Rs 8000 to helpers,” said Tasleema Subhan, President Anganwadi Workers and Helpers Association.
