HCBA President Main Qayoom reaches back to Srinagar, lawyers resume work

The Jammu and Kashmir High Court Bar Association president Mian Abdul Qayoom on Saturday reached back to Srinagar.

Qayoom was summoned by NIA to New Delhi in alleged funding case.

With Qayoom back, The Jammu and Kashmir High Court Bar Association (JKHCBA) Srinagar has decided to resume court work today.

The office bearers of the bar association informed that they will resume court work today. “

Lawyers across Kashmir valley suspended the court work to protest against a notice issued to President JKHCBA Advocate Mian Qayoom by the National Investigation Agency (NIA).

After questioning for about six hours on second consecutive day Friday in New Delhi, the National Investigation Agency (NIA) has given clean chit to the President, Kashmir Bar Association Advocate Mian Abdul Qayoom, sources said.

Sources said that all allegations against Qayoom as displayed by an Indian TV Channel have been found baseless and unfounded.

NIA is investigating an alleged funding case in Kashmir registered on May 30 this year. The investigation agency has so far arrested seven pro-freedom leaders, a businessman and two youth including a photojournalist regarding the case.
