Chairman of Jammu and Kashmir Liberation Front (JKLF), Muhammad Yasin Malik who was arrested last late night has been shifted to central jail Srinagar till Sep 11, a spokesman of the party said here.

According to the statement issued here, JKLF spokesman said that to stop JRL leaders from travelling to Delhi as per program, Malik was initially arrested on Sep 7and sent to central jail on a five day remand but yesterday on Sep 8, police itself went to central jail and released him from custody.

“Police within some hours again changed its mind and raided the residence of JKLF chairman at 12:30 A.M (night) and arrested him. He was immediately shifted to police station Kothi Bahg from where he has been now shifted to central jail Srinagar on a judicial remand till Sep 11,” he said.

Condemning the arrest of Malik and house arrest of Syed Ali Shah Geelani and Mirwaiz and stopping them from travelling to Delhi to expose ‘NIA drama’, JKLF leaders and activists staged a protest at Abi Guzar Srinagar.

JKLF leaders Siraj Ud din Mir, Sheikh Abdul Rashid, Bashir Ahmad Kashmiri, Prof Javid, Ghulam Muhammad Dar and Muhammad Azeem Zargar along with people from many walks of life including Moulana Reyaz Ahmad Shah (brother of Shaheed I Millat Moulana Showkat Ahmad Shah) gathered outside JKLF office at Abi Guzar and marched towards Press Enclave.

Holding placards in their hands and raising slogans against incarcerating JRL leaders, the participants of the protest march strongly condemned continuous police ‘highhandedness’.

The statement reads that the protest rally was addressed by various JKLF leaders who while condemning the arrest and house arrest of JRL leadership and barring them from going to Delhi and expose ‘NIA drama’, said that by incarcerating leaders and banning them from traveling to Delhi, the rulers and their authorities have actually demonstrated their growing frustration.

Speakers said that JRL leadership intended to go to Delhi and expose the ongoing NIA ‘drama’ but the rulers who before few hours where boasting about allowing them, changed their mind and adopted their old policy of arrests, curfews and restrictions to suppress people’s voices.

JKLF speakers said that arresting Malik and placing Geelani and Mirwaiz unde house detention has actually vindicated the fact that people of Jammu Kashmir want freedom and right to self-determination and NIA ‘drama’ has and can never break their will and resolve for fighting tyranny, oppression and illegal occupation.
