Killing of Rohingya Muslims : MMU resolution passed in Masjid’s, shrines, other religious places
On the call of Muttahida Majlis-e-Ulema headed by Mirwaiz Umar Farooq, protest rallies were held across Jammu and Kashmir in solidarity with the Rohingya Muslims, who are being brutally massacred and forced to migrate, by the government of Myanmar.
According to the statement issued here, a joint resolution framed by the MMU was passed unanimously in all Masjids, Shrines and Imam Baras across the State and the same resolution will be sent to UN and other world human rights bodies urging them to play their part in stopping the genocide of Muslims of Mayanmar.
According to MMU spokesman, peaceful solidarity rallies were held in all the district of Kashmir and also in the Muslim majority areas of Jammu region. The protestors carrying placards and banners were displaying slogans that read, “End Genocide of Muslims of Myanmar.”
The MMU spokesman said that rallies were held in Pulwama, Shopian, Budgam, Baramulla, Srinagar, Ganderbal, Islamabad, Kupwara and also in Chenab valley area of Jammu region while as Imams and Khateebs in their Friday sermon read the joint resolution and called for an immediate end of genocide of Rohingya Muslims.
The spokesman said that the MMU patron Miwaiz Umar Farooq was once again placed under house arrest at his Nigeen residence as he was supposed to lead a protest march against the killings of Rohingya Muslims.
The MMU spokesman and entire downtown was once again turned into military fortress with huge deployment of forces all over amid strict curfew with authorities disallowing the congregational Friday prayers at the historic Jamia Masjid.
While condemning the house detention of Mirwaiz and barring Friday prayers at the Jamia Masjid, the MMU spokesman strongly condemned the move stating that the government continues to follow the policy of oppression and disallowingFriday prayers is a direct religious interference.
He said the irony was that the government following the dictatorial approach and is now banning the peaceful protests that are aimed at expressing solidarity with the Muslim brethren who are being killed in cold blooded murder while as world community watches it as a mute spectator.
The MMU spokesman said Muslim Ummah is one and every Muslim is part of it and it is the religious, moral and human responsibility for us to raise voice against the ultimate form of atrocities being inflicted on the Rohingya Muslims including children, elderly and women. He said Kashmiri people can well understand the sufferings of their Muslim brethren in Mayanmar as we have seen the worst over the past three decades.
