Kashmir erupts in solidarity with Rohingya Muslims
Two officers of Jammu and Kashmir police were among six cops injured on Friday in South Kashmir’s Anantnag after protestors set ablaze a police vehicle and clashed with forces over the alleged Human Rights violations committed by the Burmese Army against unarmed Rohingya Muslims.
Deputy Superintendent of Police Mohammad Yousuf was beaten by protesters and his bullet proof police vehicle set ablaze during clashes between protestors and law enforcing personnel, reports said.
A Sub Inspector identified as Syeed Junaid was also critically injured after being beaten by angry protesters in Lal Chowk Anantnag.
“Some miscreants set on fire a police vehicle and six cops were injured during clashes,” a police official said.
He added that no other injury was reported during clashes and situation soon became normal in the area.
According to the eyewitnesses, hundreds of protestors took to roads around Lal Chowk and started raising pro-Rohingya slogans after the Friday prayers concluded in Anantnag town.
Eyewitnesses added that the people were protesting against killings of Rohingya Muslims in Myanmar.
Sources said that protests took a violent turn and some youth started pelting stones on government forces who were already deployed in the town. The forces retaliated with tear smoke shells to disperse protesters triggering clashes for a while, eyewitnesses added.
SOUTH KASHMIR
In Pulwama, protestors were raising slogans in favour of Rohingya Muslims and Kamran Yousuf, a photo journalist who was arrested by NIA three days back.
In Tral town of Pulwama large number of people took out a protest rally today from Khankah Faiz Panah Tral to Bus Stand after Friday prayers and condemned the killings and persecution of Rohingya Muslims.
Witnesses said that the protesters also raised slogans against former RAW chief RSN Singh, who made blasphemy remarks against Prophet Muhammad SAW (PBUH).
The protesters carrying placards and banners seeking end to genocide in Burma, took out a protest march from Uptown (Khankah Faiz Panah ) to Downtown (Bus Stand) area of the sub district, in which Sikhs community of the town also participated.
The protesters were raising slogans like “Qatle Aam Bhand Kero”, RSN Singh (Former Raw Chief) Ko fansi do fansi do” Burma Ke Muslamano Hum Tumhare Sath Hain” and “Down Down Buddhism”.
On the occasion, the protesters displayed placards seeking immediate halt to the killings of Rohingya Muslims in Myanmar, witnesses added.
In Pampore, hundreds of people after Friday prayers in Khankah-e-Moula Pampore assembled at Namblabal Chowk and marched towards National highway while raising slogans in favour of Rohingya Muslims.
As per witnesses, they also raised slogans against the Myanmar Government and international human rights organisations.
In Kakapora area of Pulwama, a protest rally was taken out from Astan Masjid Kakapora to main Chowk Kakapora against Muslim genocide in Myanmar.
As per reports, protesters raised slogans against the United Nations organisation for their silence on the issue.
They were also raising slogans to release Sarjan Barkati, a famous Muslim preacher of south Kashmir, who is in custody from last 11 months.
In Kokernag Hundreds of people today assembled at Jamai Masjid Gohan Vailoo after Friday prayers and marched towards Main Market Vailoo Kokernag to express their solidarity with the oppressed Rohingya Muslims in Myanmar.
As per the reports, protestors were carrying banners and placards and raised slogans against the Myanmar Government.
Same kind of protest rallies were reported from Achabal and many parts of Kulgam district.
SRINAGAR/CENTRAL KASHMIR
Protests erupted in old city’s Safakadal and Nowshara area after Friday prayers, reports said.
Protest in solidarity with Rohingya Muslims were also held outside the Dastgeer sahab shrine Khanyar. The protest were organized by ‘Unison Kashmir’.
Meanwhile, scores of Tibetian vendors Friday staged a protest against the killings of Rohinga Muslims in Myanmar at Press Enclave in Srinagar.
Protesting vendors’ appealed to the Islamic countries to intervene and unite for the Rohingya Muslims.
Reports of protests were also recieved from Chadoora area of District Budgam. Similar types of protests were also reported from Rawalpora area of Srinagar in Central Kashmir.
Meanwhile, Budgam town observed complete shutdown against the raids of NIA on Hurriyat (M) leader Aga Syed Hassan on Thursday.
NORTH KASHMIR
Protests against the killing of Muslims in Mynamar were reported from north Kashmir’s Sopore town.
Reports said that a large number of people at Choora Sopore area in north kashmir’s Baramulla district hit the roads and condemned the killings and persecution of Rohingya Muslims.
The protestors were carrying placards and banners seeking end to genocide in Burma and took out a peaceful protest rally from Uthoora Kreeri up to Choora National highway.
The protestors also raised slogans against the atrocities on Rohingya Muslims in Myanmar reports added.
