Govt has all intentions to resolve Kashmir issue: Rajnath
Ahead of his crucial visit to the state of Jammu and Kashmir, Union Home Minister Rajnath Singh on Friday said that the government had all intentions to solve the Kashmir issue.
He said that while the government was ready to discuss the Jammu and Kashmir issue with all stakeholders, he would talk to anyone who comes to meet him during his visit to the state.
“I personally want that we talk to everyone. So whoever comes to meet me, I will talk to them,” Rajnath, who sets out on a three-day visit to Jammu and Kashmir on Saturday, told reporters here.
He added that the government had all intentions to solve the Kashmir issue.
The Union Home Minister Rajnath Singh will be visiting the state for four days. During his three day visit which is begging this weekend, Rajnath Singh will hold talks with Chief Minister Mehbooba Mufti and Governor N.N. Vohra.
Singh will visit Jammu and Srinagar and meet civil society members, leaders of political and social organisations, business leaders and others, a government official said.
Mehbooba, last month, met Singh, reportedly, to drum up support for preventing attempts to remove special status to the state under the Constitution.
Rajnath Singh had earlier said that a solution to the Kashmir problem will be found before 2022.
Rajnath Singh’s visit comes after Prime Minister Narendra Modi on 15 August said his government was committed to bring back the “lost glory” of Kashmir.
Meanwhile, a PIB handout issued here said that Rajnath Singh will be on a 4-day beginning today. He will be accompanied by the Union Home Secretary Rajiv Gauba and senior officers of Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA).
During his visit to J&K, he will meet the Governor N. N. Vohra and Chief Minister Ms Mehbooba Mufti. He will also review Prime Minister’s Development Package and security situation in the state.
Rajnath Singh will meet various delegations at Srinagar and Jammu. He will also interact with J&K Police jawans, CRPF and BSF jawans in the state, the statement added.
