Rohingya issue : Students continue protests in South Kashmir
As the clamor for action against the Burmese government continues to grow with every passing day, the students in many parts of Kashmir Valley continue to show their anger against the targeted killings of Rohingya Muslims by the Burmese army.
On Thursday students from the Higher Secondary School Shopian and Govt Degree college (Boys) Anantnag staged a protest against the killings of Rohingya Muslims in Burma (Myanmar).
Witnesses said that the students of Higher Secondary School Shopian in South Kashmir took out a protest march upto the government Degree College. The students raised anti-Burma slogans and demanded action against the Burmese army and the government. The students also demanded an immediate end to the rights violations being committed by the Burmese army and armed civilians.
The witnesses said that and soon after the students protest culminated and they were returning back, a contingent of police intercepted them near Gagren.
The protesting students raising slogans pelted stones on a police vehicle and the cops fired many tear smoke shells to disperse the protesting students.
However, after the students were pacified and the situation soon returned to normal in the town.
Meanwhile, students of Govt Degree College (Boys) assembled in the college campus and staged a peaceful protest against the killings of Rohingya Muslims in Myanmar.
The students were holding banners and placards which read “Stop killing Rohingya Muslims”, “Stop killings, Save Burma.”
Students also shouted slogans against the rights body United Nations, for not taking any positive step to stop Muslim genocide in Myanmar.
