Union Home Minister Rajnath Singh will be visiting the state this weekend. The Home Minister will hold talks with Chief Minister Mehbooba Mufti and Governor N.N. Vohra.

According to the reports, Singh will be in Kashmir from September 9-11. He will meet all stakeholders and also address a press conference here.

During his three-day visit, beginning Saturday, Singh will visit Jammu and Srinagar and meet civil society members, leaders of political and social organisations, business leaders and others, a government official said.

Mehbooba, last month, met Singh, reportedly, to drum up support for preventing attempts to remove special status to the state under the Constitution.

Rajnath Singh had earlier said that a solution to the Kashmir problem will be found before 2022.

Rajnath Singh’s visit comes after Prime Minister Narendra Modi on 15 August said his government was committed to bring back the “lost glory” of Kashmir.

Earlier, reports said that BJP’s coalition partner PDP might hold a public rally to welcome the Union Home Minister in the summer capital of the state. According to some reports, the rally has been put on hold.

Former Chief Minister and Working president of National Conference on Wednesday tweeted that, “Srinagar is abuzz with talk that @jkpdp has organised a mega public meeting for Rajnath Singh so he can announce Central Govt support to 35A”.
