Massive Clashes erupt in Anantnag

Massive Clashes have erupted between youth and government forces in Ananatnag town after Jamiat Ahele Hadees (JeA) took a protest demonstration against the Burma Muslim killings.

After Friday prayers hundreds of protesters marched towards Lal Chowk area of the town raising slogans against the atrocities on Rohingya Muslims in Myanmar.

As soon as the protesters hit the streets, the government forces deployed there intercepted them, triggering clashes. Forces used tear gas shells to quell the protesters.

The clashes soon turned violent as the protesters set ablaze a police vehicle near DC office Anantnag.

A Sub Inspector namely Syeed Junaid was critically injured after being beaten by angry protesters in Lal Chowk Anantnag.

Clashes were going on when the last reports came in.
