Equating Rohingya Muslims with Kashmir issue unjustified: Geelani
Hurriyat (G) chairman, Syed Ali Geelani Friday ridiculed the statement made by Nobel Prize winner Aung San Suu, saying that equating Rohingya Muslims with Kashmir issue is unjustified.
According to the statement issued here, Geelani said that instead of looking this issue through a specific prism, they should take into considerations all aspects of human values.
Terming her statement ‘unfounded’, Geelani said that “terrorism and right to self-determination are two different subjects, saying there is a no resemblance between Rohingya and Kashmir issue.”
Hailing the solidarity protests organized by people in nook and corner of state, Geelani said that irrespective of faith and religion we as a suppressed nation feel the pain of other oppressed communities and nations of world.
Criticizing the use of excessive and brute force against peaceful protests organized to express solidarity with Rohingya Muslims, Syed Ali Geelani said that every human being has a democratic and moral right to raise voice and protest for oppressed and hapless nations.
Geelani in his appeal to UN and international human rights agencies, asked to take cognizance of the brutalities being perpetrated on Rohingya Muslims and urged to stop this bloodshed, saying it is pertinent to implement UN charter in letter and spirit.
Meanwhile senior leader and activists of Hurriyat Conference including Nisar Hussain Rather, Molvi Bashir Irfani, Molvi Bashir Ahmad Qureshi, Meraj-u-Din Rabbani, Syed Mohammad Shafi, Imtiaz Ahmed Shah, Rafiq Owasi, Mudasir Nadvi and Ramiz Raja led the peaceful protest demonstrations in Hyderpora Srinagar against the genocides of Rohingya Muslims.
Meanwhile, criticizing police for continuous detention of Tehreek-e-Huriyat activists Umar Adil Dar and Sajjad Ahmed Bhat, Huriyat spokesman said, that authorities are subjecting them to political vendetta. He said that Umar Adil Dar has been detained in police station Humhama while as Sajjad Ahmad Bhat, since past fifteen days is languishing in police station Qamerwari.
Spokesman while denouncing the police action against resistance leadership including Syed Ali Geelani, Mirwaiz Molana Umar Farooq and Mohd Yasin Malik, said, that arresting or placing house arrest, tantamount to acceptance of defeat by NIA.
