A special National Investigation Agency (NIA) court today sent Javed Ahmad Bhat and Kamran Yousuf to 10-day police custody, reports said.

The duo was arrested yesterday by NIA sleuths on charges of stone pelting and spreading rumors. The duo was taken to New Delhi for interrogation.

District Judge Poonam A Bamba allowed the NIA to quiz Javed Ahmed Bhat from Kulgam and Kamran Yusuf from Pulwama till September 16 after the probe agency said they were required to be confronted with the other accused in the case, court sources said.

During in-chamber proceedings, the NIA also said the two had to be taken to various places in relation to the ongoing investigation.

Kamran Yousuf, who works as a freelance photo-journalist in south Kashmir’s Pulwama district is accused of uploading ‘Provocative’ video on his Facebook profile while Javaid, a laborer by profession, is accused of instigating violence via WhatsApp.

Meanwhile, South Kashmir journalists on Wednesday held a peaceful protest outside DC office Pulwama against the detention of a local photojournalist, Kamran Yousuf by NIA.

Media persons while holding banners demanded immediate release of the detained photographer.
