Two militants killed in Sopore gunfight: Police
Two militants were killed in an ongoing operation in Shankergund Brath area of Sopore in north Kashmir’s Baramulla district on Monday, police said.
The police said that 2AK 47 rifles and one Insas rifle were recovered from the encounter site.
A gunfight had started between government forces and militants on Monday following a cordon and search operation in the area early Monday.
An official said that militants, believed to be two in number, opened fire on soldiers during a search operation in Shanker Gund Brath area of Sopore today morning.
The forces retaliated to the fire, triggering a gunfight, he said.
Two militants were killed in the gunfight, tweeted the Jammu and Kashmir police.
However, the identity of the militants could not be ascertained.
