Mirwaiz barred from offering Eid prayers
Hurriyat (M) chief Mirwaiz Umar Farooq was barred from offering Eid prayers and was placed under house arrest late last night.
Mirwaiz was to lead Eid congregation at Eidgah.
A spokesman of the outfit said that a police party reached at the Nigeen residence of the Mirwaiz and placed him under detention.
However, Mirwaiz addressed the faithful who had arrived at the Eidgah for prayers over phone.
“Eid Mubarak It’s been 7 years since I was last allowed to offer Eid prayers.’’ Mirwaiz said.
