Two dead bodies recovered in Shopian

Police Tuesday claimed to have recovered two male dead bodies in Shopian district of South Kashmir.

According to the police sources, two dead bodies were recovered in an orchid near Palpora village of Shopian. Police identified the bodies as that of Umar Suhail and Mohammad Ather, both residents of Rajouri district in Jammu division.

Meanwhile, Police recovered some powder and cigarettes from the pockets of the dead youth. Police believes that the drug overdose might be the cause of the death as the bodies had no marks of violence.

“It is the probably the case of drug overdose. We are trying to figure out the cause of the death, but preliminary investigation reveals that the deaths might be due to drug overdose,” SHO Shopian, Gulam Jaeelani told ‘Kashmir Vision’.

Earlier on Monday, Police had also recovered a dead body from the Kulgam area of south Kashmir in a similar manner. According to the police there were no marks of violence on the body. However, the cause of the death could not be ascertained on the earlier case. The deceased was identified as Amjeed Khan Sanyal son of Shabir Ahmad Khan resident of Thanamandi Rojouri.

Meanwhile, Police has registered a case in this regard and investigation has been taken up.

“We have registered a case and we are trying to ascertain the actual cause of the death. We have sent the bodies for postmortem. Everything will be revealed after the reports come in,” the official added.
