Days after US President Donald Trump warned Pakistan against providing safe harbour to terrorist organisations and Indian government hailing it, Pakistan Foreign Minister Khawaja Mohammad Asif yesterday said that Pakistan had suspended talks and bilateral visits with the United States as a mark of protest, according to Dawn.

Pak Foreign Minister Khawaja Mohammad Asif  told the Senate that Pakistan had taken Trump’s remark seriously, as per the newspaper. The minister said it is believed that India will have no military role in Afghanistan, rather it will have a role in economic development. According to the Dawn sources, Asif also claimed that India would not be allowed to use Afghan soil for destabilising Pakistan, he said.

Asif made those remarks at the meeting of Senate, which converted itself into a committee prior to its regular session. In the meeting, the members had also asked for the details of the terror incidents in Pakistan which they claim to be carried out by India. They also sought the details of the cases against Kulbhushan Jadhav. The members also wanted to know the mechanism to check whether India is not trying to foment terrorism in Pakistan, Dawn reported.

There were also reports of US Secretary of State for South and Central Asia Alice Wells paying a visit to Pakistan from today, as per Dawn.
