Massive search operation in Shopian district ends

Massive search operation which was launched by the government forces in the wee hours of Monday in over half dozen villages of Shopian district has ended peacefully. Over 1500 forces personnel were part of the operation.

A police official told that following the inputs about the presence of militants in the area forces launched search operation in half dozen villages and vast orchards of the area

The operation was carried out jointly by contingents from Army’s 62 RR, personnel of special operations group of police Shopian-Imamsahib, and Central Reserve Police Force. The CASO ended peacefully without any success, the police official added.

Police official added that all entry and exit points of the area were completely sealed and movement of the people was also restricted.

The villages that were under cordon include Matribugh, Ronipora, Zoipora, Dangam, Wangam, Shahpora, Khassipora, Chakoora and Mangacheck.
