A breakthrough has finally been achieved in Doklam after more than two months of a stand-off between the Indian Army and People’s Liberation Army Of China.

According to a statement issued by the Ministry of External Affairs, both countries have agreed to disengage troops.

“In recent weeks, India and China maintained diplomatic communication in respect of incident at Doklam. During these communications, we were able to express our views and convey our concerns and interests. On this basis, expeditious disengagement of border personnel at the face-off site at Doklam has been agreed to and is on-going,” the statement reads.

Earlier, China has repeatedly blamed India for the Doklam impasse, accusing Indian soldiers of trespass and preventing Chinese soldiers from building a road in the region, which is under Chinese control but claimed by Bhutan.
