Aanganwadi Workers , Helpers Stage Protest at Dooru Shahabad

Demanding salary hike and other benefits , Anganwadi workers and helpers working is Dooru area staged a protest here today.
The protesting workers who had gathered under the banner of Anganwardi Workers Welfare Association, raised slogans and demanded hike in monthly salary of Anganwadi workers and helpers to 13,000 and 10,000 respectively.
They also demanded benefits of Employees Provident Fund, ESI in the State Government share to the tune of Rs 5000 per Months & promotions as per seniority list.
Shamima Banoo, a protesting Anganwadi Worker criticised the Government for its alleged anti-worker attitude towards low paid workers, saying no attention is being paid to redress their long pending issues.
“Social Welfare Department is pressurises workers for six hours duty with very low honorarium and also forces us into other duties like data collection, Registration , Election Duty, Examination Duty”, she said.
The Workers even blocked Anantnag-Verinag road for hours affecting traffic movement on the road. Later, the protesting workers cleared the road on assurance of local Tehsildar that their demands would be taken up with the higher authorities.
