Residents of Koshipora area in South Kashmir’s Anantnag district are demanding completion of works on the main road between Larkipora to Koshipora.

The road according to locals was in shambles and after the civil works were initiated by the government, the work has been going on at a snail’s pace leaving the locals worried.

Locals while speaking to ‘Kashmir Vision” said that the commuters who have to travel on daily basis suffer immensely due to the slow progress of work.

“The Government has ordered the construction of the road, but the slow progress of work is creating problems for the residents,” a local resident Shakoor Ahmad, said.

The people also sought the intervention of Roads and Buildings Authorities to initiate steps for early completion of the work.

However, authorities blamed the heavy traffic rush on the road for the slow works.

“The road in question usually remains quite busy. The traffic is so immense that the workers hardly get time to get the construction work going,” Executive Engineer, R&B Division Khanabal, Mohammad Ayoub said.

He said that now e have decided to suspend traffic for some days so that the workers get ample time to complete the construction work smoothly.

“We were in the process of getting required permissions and completion of formalities and now as we have got these completed we will suspend traffic movement on the road within a day so the work in completed within the next week,” he added.
