Mobile rings in fortified jail alarms police

Police and jail authorities last night carried out a raid in the Sub Jail Baramulla and recovered 20 cell phones and other incriminating material from the inmates, reports said on Wednesday.

A police spokesman later said that a joint search was conducted by Baramulla Police and Jail authorities last night in the Sub Jail Baramulla after information about the presence of unauthorized mobile phones in the premises.

“20 cell phones and some incriminating material were recovered from the possession of jail inmates,” he said.

According to the sources, a case has been registered in this regard and investigation has been taken up to know how the recovered articles which are not authorised as per jail manual have made entry into the jail premises.

Police is as well investigating the role of jail staff if any, as earlier as well cell phones and other articles were recovered from jail in various search operations by police in the same jail.
