Leopard mowed down by train in Dooru Shahabad

A male Leopard was mowed down by a speeding train near Checkiwangund area of Dooru Shahabad in Anantnag District on Thursday Morning.

According to sources, the leopard may have tried to cross the railway track and met with accident . The leopard is believed to be around five years old.

Department of Wild Life Protection were informed about the incident at around 8:30 am following which they rushed to the spot to conduct further inquiry.

Residents of the area said that a number of leopards are found in the area where the accident occurred but it is for first time that a leopard met with an accident with train in Kashmir Valley.
