Div Com reviews arrangements for Eid-ul-Azha, Eid-e-Ghadir

Divisional Commissioner Kashmir, Baseer Ahmad Khan today chaired a meeting to review the arrangements being put in place for the forthcoming occasions of Eid-ul-Azha and Eid-e-Ghadir.

Additional Commissioner Kashmir, Deputy Commissioner Srinagar, IG Traffic, DIG Central, SSP Traffic, VC LAWDA, Director FCS&CA, Executive Engineers from PDD, R&B, PHE, Officers from SMC, Drug Controller Organization, Legal Metrology, Food Safety Standards, Health, Animal & Sheep Husbandry, Waqf Board, Deputy Director Planning and other concerned officials were present in the meeting, whereas all Deputy Commissioners participated in the meeting through Video Conferencing. 

 The Divisional Commissioner was informed that the squads have been constituted for market checking to prevent illegal profiteering and hoarding of essential commodities.

Divisional Commissioner directed the Deputy Commissioners to start intense market checking drive across the valley to curb black marketing and adulteration and to ensure that products are sold in the market on Government approved rates only.

He directed Animal Husbandry department to keep Sheep, Goats and Poultry birds available on reasonable rates at all sale centres so that the people do not face any inconvenience.

The Deputy Commissioners were asked to identify the locations in their respective districts and keep the sacrificial animals available to the public.

Directing the concerned for providing adequate potable water, uninterrupted electricity supply, ration, LPG and transport facilities to the people, the Divisional Commissioner asked the concerned for maintaining proper sanitation in and around the mosques and prayer grounds during the festival of Eid-ul-Azha and Eid-e-Ghadir.

Khan directed the Traffic Department to ensure proper traffic management to avoid any inconvenience to the devotees.

He asked for maintaining better coordination among the concerned Departments and other concerned agencies for smooth and successful conduct of these religious events.

The Divisional Commissioner expressed hope that the festival of Eid-ul-Azha and Eid-e-Ghadir will be a harbinger of harmony and brotherhood in the Valley.
